Hello beautiful vegan people and travelers alike! My journey to veganism started at an early age. I remember as a child always wondering why people ate animals. How odd…..How strange….. But most importantly, how sad! I grew up on the road never staying one place for long. I’ve lived in close to 20 states in the U.S. I’ve traveled to Canada, not to mention I’ve lived in Germany and got to travel to Spain, France, England, Scotland, Czech Slovakia (now the Czech Republic) Italy and Switzerland. Living in so many different cultures was intriguing to me. Especially how different the cuisine could be form place to place. But one thing remained in my heart, I could not continue to eat animals. I expressed to my parents around the age of 10 that i did not want to continue eating animals, but of course at that age that wasn’t a decision they were going to let me make on my own. My father expressed to me that if when i turned 18 i still felt the same way that i could go vegan. So that’s what i did. When I was 18 I pledged veg. Between now and then I had bounced between veganism and vegetarianism. On Jan 1st, 2014 i said NO MORE and haven’t looked back since! I feel so lucky to get to be a part of this community and to know how many kind hearted people there really are left in this world. I love reading about all of your adventures and life changing experiences. I can only hope to start making more of my own here very soon. All of you are truly inspiring and most of all……AWESOME 🙂 Keep that stuff up! 🙂
Wow, Jess, you’ve lived in and traveled to so many different places! Do you have any favorites, or places you’re looking to in your future travels? Our paths to a veg lifestyle sound similar– my parents were apprehensive at first when I told them at age 13 that I wasn’t going to be eating any more meat. They did let me go ahead and give it a go, probably just thinking it was a phase I’d grow out of, but I never did 😉 I’m happy we both persevered toward compassionate living, and I’m happy to know you because of VeganTravel!
You are so awesome and inspiring too Jess! Thanks so much for being part of our VeganTravel team.
Thank you Jaclyn and Alan. I enjoy working with your smiling faces everyday! Glad our paths crossed in life! 🙂
What a great story! So happy to have you here! 🙂
