Portugal, the journey has been playing for twenty plus days so far, first in Lisbon, then Sintra, and now in the beautiful surf and fishing village of Ericeira.
I’ve discovered many things about eating vegan in Portugal. It’s quite easy, but there may be times when you are challenged.
The challenges are part of the process, of letting go, of being gentle with yourself while also standing strong.
Overall the food in Portugal has been lacking in deliciousness though it’s been fun to try.
My family is originally from the Azores and I couldn’t believe it but there is a vegetarian restaurant on the island.
On the mainland there were a few good restaurants but we mainly just did all of our own cooking while there. Head north to Porto and you will find some really great vegan restaurants. You can check out where we ate here:
I’ve heard great things about Azores. As for Ericeira and Lisbon I have had found many options. In Lisbon there was vegan restaurant, four or five actually, two of them were pretty good.
The Temple of Food was a lot of fun, open from 19:00 to 22:30 all vegan, with a changing menu from day to day.
I will have to write about more and take more photos.
