Almost a year ago today, the VeganTravel team all met up in Berlin for the Vegan Summer Festival. Here’s some lovely memories from that trip.

Some New York moments from last weekend’s visit included waiting on long queues at Essa Bagels (best vegan bagels w/ tofu cream cheese anywhere), a Hula Hooping violinist and a bride playing with giant bubbles in Central Park, along with a pooped squirrel who took a 30-minute break on it’s belly just inches from the bench we were sitting on. Oh…[Read more]

Some photos from the lovely time we had last week exploring Vancouver, Canada!

Ever since I experienced the wonders of the Northern Lights in Tromsø, Norway a few years ago, I have been longing to go back. And I had been planning to do just that this March, but last minute my plans changed so instead of -30C, I’m traveling in +30C weather today! 🙂

    • Wow, that photo is so beautiful. What an amazing experience.

    • I saw the northern lights in Iceland, but it wasn’t clear enough to get pictures… that’s amazing!

      • I saw them in Iceland too! Once from the plane on the way there and the other time we went on a drive to find them 🙂

      • I highly recommend late autumn or early spring in Tromsø, Norway. From Tromsø it’s an easy drive to several picturesque sites along the coast or over the mountains to Finnish lapland. Norway gets the Gulf Stream, so their winters are 10-15C warmer then they would otherwise be, so it is one of the more comfortable places to view the Northern L…[Read more]

In 2011 I traveled with my father and my kids on a road trip around his native home of Morocco. Today, I found myself reminiscing about our time walking around some of the souks and medinas we visited in Rabat, Casablanca, Marrakesh, and Essaouira.

    • Everything is so colorful! I bet even more so in person 🙂

      • It really is. So much of what makes Morocco so special, are the beautiful colors, designs, and textures you see everywhere from their narrow markets, to their building & home designs, to their colorful traditional clothing. And the tastes of some of their local grown vine ripened produce, with some those spices on top of couscous, alone is a treat…[Read more]

    • That’s so funny, I was just looking for flights to go back to Morocco during the summer!

    • The photo of the spices is soooo aesthetically satisfying.

      • I’m so excited for you Michelle! Your going to have such an incredible time!

      • Hey Ellie, when in the hands of a knowledgeable Moroccan cook, they taste even better than they look aesthetically 🙂

    • Oh man, how incredibly beautiful! Morocco is one place that I would love to visit!

Throwing back to 2009 in Queenstown, New Zealand – a time when the world was enthusiastic about what was going on in American politics

I and the team at VeganTravel would like to thank you for being so supportive in 2016, and wish you and everyone in our vegan community a very healthy, happy, and compassionate 2017!

Saw a pod of humpback whales breaching on the drive over yesterday – winter solstice on maui never gets old 🙂

Post injury update: it took several months of recovery from torn ankle ligaments, but I was finally able to run outside again – a couple of spectacular Tel Aviv to Jaffa 10K beach runs! Yay!

Following are some of the amazing sites along the way, and more of the reasons I love to run when I travel. :-)…[Read more]

    • @alan That’s great news to hear that you were able to do the 10k runs,

Also, some really nice photos as well. I really like the photo of the cat on the rocks. The blue water and the colour of the rocks really makes the cat stand out. Great shot.

    • Running is my favorite way to explore a new place!

    • That’s such good news! And those photos are so great! 🙂

    • That is so awesome to hear, Alan! 10k runs, too– that’s more than I worked up to without any kind of injury or healing process, haha.

In addition to a wide assortment of fresh fruits and juices, this was the breakfast options today at the Sheraton Tel Aviv – the most vegan-friendly hotel I’ve ever been to.

As Giselle & Cody and Shae & Marissa our are currently in Thailand, and Kristin will be there soon, I thought I would share a couple of my favorite photos from our time in Thailand in 2009.

Throwing Back to 2010 when we celebrated Thanksgiving in Pacific Palisades, California with some lovely animal rights / vegan activists, along with a couple of rescued turkeys. Our host graciously saves and welcomes 2 turkeys into her home every year to help focus media attention on their plight.

The legacy we pass on to our children and future generations is determined by the choices each of us makes everyday. Those of you who know me, know that Hillary was not my first choice. The decision for this staunch Bernie Sanders supporter, came down to a choice between a hateful xenophobic narcissist, verses a well intentioned yet flawed…[Read more]

This beautiful moment is from two special people who have grown so dear to my heart – Cody and Giselle of Mindful Wanderlust. Two personal role models, whose daily lives show us all how to live more compassionately!

For my first contribution to this Throwback Thursday group, I thought it most appropriate to go back to 2009 when while traveling with my daughter, she convinced me to go vegan. We had an amazing adventure, and I am forever grateful to her. <3

I remember being at your house and looking through the thousands or pictures from this trip. It looked like so much fun!

A little over a year ago VeganTravel.com went live with the goal of demonstrating to the world how easy it is to go vegan and live more compassionately. To achieve those goals, we started our Vegans Around the World contest. Dozens of ethical vegans entered the contest, and three incredibly ethical, talented, and passionate teams won. Their…[Read more]

    • Alan. There are no words to express our gratitude. Thank you for welcoming us into the vegan travel family. Thankful is an understatement. So much love for you Alan and the entire vegan travel family! Thank you for making me whole! There’s nothing more I want in this world than compassion, and thanks to you we all get to spread this compassion worldwide!

@codyk; @lifestylewithme – thank you for your very kind words, and you are so very welcome. I feel so fortunate to have had to opportunity to get to know compassionate people like you and all our collective team members during these past months. I feel like I have known you all so much longer <3 <3 <3

    • @alan Thank YOU for your amazing work and for bringing us all together. Oh my gosh, I still can’t get over how amazing the past few months have been. You and the entire VT team are literally changing the world (and the lives of your contest winners) by doing what you do, and by being some of the most compassionate, humble, and generous people I’ve…[Read more]

Had a lovely bonding experience with my kids this past weekend. For 3-days we danced and sang to the incredible music that was the soundtrack of so much of our lives together <3 <3 <3

    • Look incredible! So happy you had such a wonderful weekend!

    • SO fun! I can’t believe it already happened, I swear it seemed so far away when you were telling us about it!

      • Thanks Marissa & Shae, it was a so much fun! It was three nights of the one amazing iconic group after another. 🙂

    • Wow, the sky in the second photo is gorgeous. I’m so happy you all got to share that experience together 🙂

    • I feel sorry for Pigs being compared to Trump 🙂

      • Thanks for pointing that out Cody and I totally agree. I also really hesitated about sharing that photo. Unfortunately the word pig is frequently used that way. And we were grateful to Roger Waters when he devoted his entire 11-minute “Pigs” song to Trump. During the song, the screen was filled with some of Trump’s more infamous racist & sexist…[Read more]

    • Absolutely amazing! We were just listening to some Indian inspired Beatles earlier today ❤️ You guys are soooo lucky to have seen so many incredible musicians!

      • Must have been fun! Given their history, I’d imagine the Beatles would still be huge in India. I thought my days of big concert events was long past, but I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to see 6 of my favorite all time bands/performers. One small regret is that Robert Plant turned down a huge financial offer to reunited Led Zeppelin at the…[Read more]
