Hi everyone! My name is Anasylvia, and I am from Los Angeles. Traveling is everything! Since going vegan, I have traveled to the UK, France, and Italy, and it had its challenges, (primarily me being the only Vegan in my group) but overall it was not difficult.. Next year I already have a few tripes lined up. I am looking at New Orleans, Chicago, Honduras, and Nicaragua. I’ve been to Nicaragua, but never as a Vegan, so we’ll see how that goes! Would love any recommendation for these places for those who have been. I am so happy I stumbled upon this incredible community. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Hey there @anasylvia, first of all welcome to the Vegan Travel community. Super glad to have you.

My wife and I travelled all throughout Central America earlier this year and had no issues at all when it came to eating Vegan. There are Vegan Friendly places popping up everywhere and that was pretty great. There is a place in San Juan del Sur called Buddha Garden that had a lot of really good options. You will have no difficulties in any of the places you are going ๐Ÿ™‚

      • Hi @codyk! Thanks for the welcome, and thanks for the recommendation. I’m so excited to go back to Central America. This time as a Vegan and check out the wonderful cuisine. Hopefully I can make down to San Juan de Sur, and check out the beauty of the region and the food. Fingers crossed.
P.S. I’ve been loving your videos! Awesome work, and I can’t wait to see more ๐Ÿ™‚

        • @anasylvia Just a tip when travelling Central America. They tend to put animal/pig fat into a lot of dishes so make sure to ask “sin grassa de cerdo/porko”

Like I said before we never had any issues and there were only a few times when they told us they have animal fat in the food. Another really fun thing we did in Nicaragua was take a chocolate making course. They even accommodated us with dark chocolate.

Really looking forward to your adventures Anasylvia. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Welcome, Anasylvia! I lived in Chicago for five years, and would be happy to tell you about some of my favorite vegan spots in the windy city ๐Ÿ™‚

      • Hi @jaclynmiller. That would be amazing. Thank you ๐Ÿ™‚ Also, what is the weather like in June?

        • Awesome, I’ll send you a message with some ideas! It seems like new vegan spots have opened since I left the city, too (yay!). Chicago summers can get pretty hot and humid, I was surprised when I first got there (I came from FL, where hot and humid is the norm year round). It will still be nice in June, there will be lots of outdoor activities going on like street festivals, and restaurants will have a ton of outdoor seating! You can expect daytime temperatures in the high 70s or into the 80s, but it can also swing down into the mid-50s at night.
