QUESTION RE: THAILAND – Hi Everyone! You may have heard the news about the death of Thailand’s King Bhumibol. I didn’t realize—until reading about it today—how important he was to keeping Thailand at peace (in certain ways). There is fear now that with his passing will come much turmoil in the country.
I was planning to spend a good 3 months there, starting this November but now I’m unsure if that’s smart of safe. Looking to get your thoughts on the matter! Thanks bunches! <3
We are wondering the same thing
Hey @vegannomad and @lifestylewithme, If I were you…..maybe hold off your trip to Thailand. It would be best to keep an eye on the situation and we can let you know what our friends are saying inside the country. Do I think all hell will break loose? It’s tough to say.
The Thai people do not like the Prince (who will take over the spot of the King) they have no respect for him and think he is incapable of running the country.
The King has reigned for 70 years so that is all most people know. If the military takes over and their are protests over the new king it could turn ugly. Are you able to postpone your trip to see how things are going to turn out?
If I could make a suggestion…..You could head to Bali which is #1 Vegan Paradise!! #2 Totally relaxing #3 Cheap!!!
There is also Siem Reap, Cambodia.
Also, make sure you do not say anything bad about the Royal Family of Thailand. It is against the law and you could get in serious shit. Even if you post online.
Thanks so much, @codyk !! I’ve got my ticket to Bali and I think I’ll take your suggestion to go to Siem Reap after that for a week or so and then check in to see what Thailand is looking like. <3
