Following is a copy of something I just put on Facebook. I didn’t know if you would all see it there, but I also wanted to include an additional message for each of you. If you already read the Facebook post, you can just skip to the bottom paragraph of this message:
> We want to extend our immense gratitude to all the amazingly passionate vegans who were in the teams who entered our contest. Your incredible dedication to making the world more compassionate is truly inspiring and has had such an amazing impact on each and every one of us.
It wasn’t easy for any of us to choose which of you we thought would be the best representatives of our mutual vegan ethics and compassionate goals.
To be fair to everyone who entered the contest, the choice we made was to accept the math, regardless of any personal preferences any one of us might have had. The top three winning teams were the ones whose videos got the most combined likes, views, and comments on YouTube and on our site, added to the scores from the videos which received the highest votes from our 10 vegans judges. Five of our judges live in Europe and 5 of us live in North America. We are all just regular vegans, who come from diverse backgrounds, understandings, and paths towards living our lives more compassionately. Like you, we all went vegan because of our love and concern for our fellow humans, for all sentient life, and for the planet we all share. And like you, we all want to do our part to help wake the people in our world up to a more compassionate way to live.
We are truly grateful and our world is a better place because of each and everyone of you. From the bottom of our VeganTravel team’s hearts, thank you Kristin & Mandi. Giselle & Cody, Christina & Keith, Tanya & Robbie, Shae & Marissa, Chris & Margaret, Toni & Michelle, Megan & Zac. We all truly hope that long after this contest is forgotten, that you will all stay in touch with us. And please do feel free to let us know if there are any other projects you are working on (doesn’t even have to be travel related) in which we can help you promote veganism and compassion. I didn’t have Keith’s or Robbie’s user name, so I would greatly appreciate it if you would pass along my immense gratitude to them as well.
Thank you so much, @alan. What a beautiful note. I’m still in awe of your generosity, kindness, and sincere passion for what you and your team are doing to literally change the world, and the lives of those involved in the contest. Thank YOU for reminding me why it is I love what I do, and for creating one of the most incredible opportunities I’ve had the pleasure of being a part of. Much love to you and your crew! <3
Thanks so much Alan, @codyk and I look very forward to working with Vegan Travel to promote ethical veganism and a more compassionate way of life.
It was amazing to see such a diverse group of people enter the contest. Here’s hoping the number of people entering the Vegan Travel contest will grow with every year!
And thank you for being so transparent with all of the details too! 🙂
