I’m so excited to find this website! Kindred Spirits, a Vegan house mind/swap site directed me to you and I look forward to both contributing and experiencing many of the places my fellow vegan travellers recommend!
As for me, after a year of backpacking as a fairly new vegan in 2013, I discovered not only could I survive Vegan anywhere and everywhere I roamed I loved the challenge of it in some countries and delighted in indulging in places like NYC! Wow! Like i’d died and gone to Vegan Aetheist Heaven 😆😆
I came home, threw in my 33 year career as a horse trainer and riding instructor with the Mounted Police and started a Vegan B&B at my 20 acre farm about 45mins NE of the city of Melbourne Australia!
I’m the second all vegan B&B in Australia to open its doors and the original is a place called Bed and Broccoli that I can also highly recommend!
I do not only accommodation in two beautiful guest rooms, but meals with a decidedly whole food bias…quite a bit of Raw and always yum!
I give cooking classes, take PT classes here in the gym I’ve set up, take guided hikes….all of which reflect my own passion for health and fitness!
I’m travelling to France in June for two months to train for a race in a foot race 898km along the length of the Pyrenees, the beautiful mountain range that divides France from Spain.
The race is very close to unsupported and I will be carrying most of my vegan food with me…and counting on some fresh fruit and maybe (hopefully) the odd Ratatouille at a high mountain cafe or tourist eatery!!!At my B&B I welcome all comers but the proviso is when here they embrace the Vegan Ethos!
I’m happy to say by projecting a positive image of vegans and veganism and providing delicious meals I’ve been able to win over many committed omnivores to at least understand that we can thrive as vegans and be open to learning more! It’s such an exciting time and operating this B&B is such a positive form of advocacy! All the animals here are rescues and love the attention… They work their ways into many hearts and minds!
Maybe I will see some of you here when you venture to Australia! I hope so! Nothing like having two lots of guests in when one lot are vegan and the others aren’t….
Dinner conversation is always fun and so interesting… and the non vegans get to see that we are all actually rather like them.,,, except for the fact we actively keep exploitation and cruelty off the plate….
And you can almost see that penny drop 🙂Photo image Good Friday 2016
