Since we are now back in Canada, we thought we would start posting the ABC’s of our travels from the last 5 years.
Every few days we will be alphabetically posting a new photo of a place we’ve visited during our travels. It feels like less than 5 years, but in January 2012, Giselle and I left our jobs, said goodbye to Canada, and set out on an incredible jaunt around the world.
Our first stop was Egypt-one of our favourite destinations, where we visited Abu Simbel in Aswan. The temples of Abu Simbel are two massive rock sculptures known as the Nubian monuments.
The twins were carved out of the mountainside thousands of years ago, and still they stand iconic. In 1968 the temple was relocated due to the building of the Aswan high damn saving it from being fully submerged during the creation of lake Nasser.
No photo or video does Abu Simbel justice. We look forward to returning one day.
We felt Abu Simbel in Aswan would be a pretty epic start.
I love hearing about your Egypt stories 🙂
